Numerology

Like Astrology, which is the study of the effects of planetary chemicals upon the psyche but is confused as being the study of something more subjective; Numerology is also misunderstood. Numerology, perhaps due its name, is confused as being a study of numbers and their effect upon the psyche. Actually, Numerology is the study of Sound and its effect upon the psyche.

The numbers are used in Numerology to give a value to each sound and as a means of calculating the values of compound sounds. The basic theory behind Numerology is that your name (sound) is like a tuning fork that tunes the energies within you to a unique frequency and therefore effects how your mind and body functions. According to some students of mystic studies, people have an Astro-Body (similar to the Soul) and it has its own mind and heart. The mind of the Astro-Body is supposedly the Name while the heart is the Zodiac. Therefore when you consider the compound implications of both your Zodiacal qualities and Numerological qualities, you will come to know your Astro-Self in its totality. Also, the theory behind Numerology suggests that once you are given a name and identify with it, your tuning begins and eventually your name will completely tune you to its frequency. Nicknames and married names also alter your tuning so long as you truly identify with them.

Advanced Numerological studies go further to consider birth dates and dates in general as relevant to the course. In fact, a very large portion of Numerological studies revolve around dates that are significant to the person being analyzed. I however believe that dates are more relevant to Zodiacal studies and should have no part in Numerology so I’m not going to discuss those parts of Numerology here.

There are seven aspects of Numerology that are of chief importance in understanding it and these seven things have different names from one book to the next but all mean the same thing.
1 – Cornerstone
Your Cornerstone is the very first letter (sound) in you name and as such, the attributes of this sound represent the baseline and foundation of your Numerological persona.

2 – Instinct
Your Instinct is the first vowel in your name and its attributes represent the way you behave/react under pressure. This is your basic fight/flight basic instinctual nature.

3 – Key
This is the total value of your first name and represents your essential and common attitude and your nature under normal circumstances. Your Key is your comfort zone and you can use these attributes to make advancements in life because these are the attributes you are good at using.

4 – Inner Self
This is the total value of all of the vowels within your entire name (first, middle & last). The attributes of your Inner Self define how you view yourself or desire yourself to be.

5 – Outer Self
This is the total value of all of the consonants within your entire name. The attributes of your Outer Self define how the world sees you or how they think you see yourself.

6 – True Self
This is the total value of all of the letters within your entire name. The attributes of the True Self define who you truly are in spite of how you or others might see you.

7 – Family Name
This is the total value of all of the letters within your last name. The attributes of the Family Name define the vibe you inherited by way of the sir name and also, what you have in common with the rest of the members of your family.

Here’s how you calculate the values within your name. It is a really simple system. There are only nine Basic numbers (1-9) and three Master numbers (11, 22, 33 and according to some Numerologists, any double number is a Master number) in numerology. If you write out the alphabet, you simply start with the letter A being equal to 1, the letter B being equal to 2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9 and then start the numbers over since there are only nine Basic numbers. Therefore, J=1, K would be equal to 2 but since it falls where the number 11 (Master number) would be were we not have started the count over after the letter I, K=11. L=3, M=4 and so on and so forth until we arrive at the letter V which equals 22.

When adding numbers in Numerology you must reduce them down to single digit values for example; if you would like to know your Key number, you would add the total value of all of the letters in your first name. Let’s say, for example, that the total value equals 39. You must then add the 3 and the 9 together, which will give you 12. Twelve is also not a single digit number so again you must add the 1 and 2 together, which leaves you with the value of 3 as your Key. Then you simply look up the attributes of 3 to know what your Key attributes are. The only time you don’t reduce a number down to a single digit is when it is a Master number.

BASIC NUMBERS
1 – A – J - S
2 – B – K - T
3 – C – L - U
4 – D – M - V
5 – E – N - W
6 – F – O - X
7 – G – P - Y
8 – H – Q - Z
9 – I – R

Here is a fictitious-name example of a basic Numerological reading. Let’s take a name like John Doe Smith.

1 6 8 5 4 6 5 1 4 9 2 8
----------------------------------
J O H N D O E S M I T H

John Doe Smith’s numbers:
Cornerstone – 1
Instinct – 6
Key – 1 + 6 + 8 + 5 = 20/2
Inner Self – 6 + 6 + 5 + 9 = 26/8
Outer Self – 1 + 8 + 5 + 4 + 1 + 4 + 2 + 8 = 33
True Self – 20/2 + 15/6 + 24/6 = 14/5
Family Name – 1 + 4 + 9 + 2 + 8 = 24/5

According to John Doe Smith’s numbers, his very basic nature (Cornerstone) is one of take-charge, manipulative forcefulness. These are the characteristics that the rest of his personality is built upon. In moments of stress or emergency situations (Instinct) where a call-to-action is needed, John becomes caring but overbearing, affectionate but self-righteous. John, during routine-life moments (Key) is an empathetic and charming person who’s not so sincere and he uses this attitude to get his way. John sees himself (Inner Self) as a truth seeking conservative though he realizes he can be a little greedy. Everyone else sees John (Outer Self) as the type to lead/organize charitable efforts. In actuality (True Self) John is a fast thinking an irritable person. John has inherited (Family Name) a fast functioning mind and an abusive nature from his family.

So there you are – the very basics of Numerology.
