Gripe of the Day: CBN - 700 Club Scam

Do you ever watch Pat Robertson's CBN (Christian Broadcast Network) 700 show? Do you send your money to their organization? Do you place your hand on the television screen and "pray" along with the hosts of the show? Do you believe that God wants you to give your money to Pat Robertson in order that you be "rewarded" for your faith? Do you believe that your contributions to CBN are making a difference in the world? Do you believe that CBN offers non-skewed news from unbiased reporters and journalists?

If you answered yes to any of those questions; you're an idiot.

The 700 Club broadcast is nothing more than an Infomercial on steroids. The broadcast is set up to achieve nothing more than exploit your faith for the monetary gain of Pat Robertson and his organization. Pat Robertson also uses the broadcast as a soap-box for his political views. Pat has duped just enough people to follow him for his organization to be considered a constituency therefore; politicians listen to his opinions as ridiculous as some of them have been. With all of the pain, suffering and poverty in this world, you will NEVER convince me that it's God's plan that the leaders of his/her cause, live like kings/queens while there is mass suffering in the world. There is one who will reward you for taking advantage of those in need. There is one to whom it is perfectly acceptable that you have more than your share while millions have nothing. Guess who that "one" is. What ever name you know evil by, that is who controls these people. If there is a devil, I believe that he had achieved the greatest feat of misdirection ever! He has created a faith and convinced millions that it is God's when in actually, you are following him.

Let's look at the facts. The fact is that there are Christian churches in nearly every community of this country and what exactly is the result? Poor communities are falling down around the churches, crime in high-crime areas aren't affect at all by the presence of a church, the ministers, priests and pastors do nothing to repair the problems that surround them but they all seem to be doing so well. The fact is that religious organizations collect money and set-up satellites in 3rd world countries abroad and the suffering in those countries has only gotten worse in many cases. At some point, you have got to realize that these people are doing nothing for the "good" of the world. They are taking your money and living well off of it.

Some people are convinced that God responded to them when they were in need because of their acceptance of and association with organizations like CBN or Joyce Meyers. My question is; did you try to elicit the assistance of God before going through CBN? I'd be willing to bet that God would respond if you ask and you don't need to give money to CBN, you don't need to call yourself a Christian, you don't need to go through a middle-man. We have a long history of proselytes, zealots, ministries and missionaries who were proven to be frauds. At what point do we learn from this history? People keep volunteering their selves to be taken advantage of. Are they that desperate that they will surrender common sense for the hope of divine intervention? It's sad that these people are being victimized by these conscienceless predators who operate with impunity. One day we will learn to trust our own eyes and the truth stand directly in front us.

I hope my rantings made sense today. I'm multi-tasking today and hope I'm venting coherently. Anywho, I'm vented.

  1. I agree, I found your post through google. I have watched a few eps of this on different mornings. This morning really blew me away. This couple with 4 kids were living off credit cards, were deep in debt. It mentioned they had donated some money. I figured well 200$ or so, but no!!! 10,000$ Well, couldn't they have used that money to pay off their cc's instead of be in debt? Arguing everyday?! Well, in the end he got an 80,000$ check from work for some stocks his company had for him and sold...pssh yeah right!

  2. Sounds like somebody doesn't know their bible. Maybe instead of ranting on things you are unfamiliar about, take the time to read it and study it a while then come back on here. I really believe you would be taking this whatever you want to call it, off the computer. And yes, God wants us to prosper. If we tithe, give back to him (God) the 10 percent he requires of us to see if we are willing to be obedient to his word, then he will bless us. We don't give to GET, we give to show our love for the Lord first, and then others are blessed because of it. And in return God blesses us for obeying and loving him. If someone is not doing or saying the right things about God - they will have to answer to God in the end, if they are being deceptive in any way, God will deal with them. It is not for us to JUDGE them. If you give with the right heart, God sees this and will bless you for doing so, no matter what the person on the receiving end does with it. Like I said, they will have to answer for their part. Pray for these people and people like you so that not even one person is turned away from God because of wrong doing.

  3. Yes, please pray for me. Pray that I never become the victim you seem to be. No I do not believe that your god or any other god had any interest in 10 percent of your money. Man, not god, created money. It's CBN that's living large off of your tithing, not god and definitely not the people they claim to have been helping with your tithes for the last gazillion years. Yes I shall judge anyone who is requesting 10 percent or any percent for that matter of people's money. It's just common sense to know where/who you're spending your money with. Do I know the Bible? Yes, but who cares - this isn't about the Bible - it's about crooks. Crooks do exist in the industry of faith, you know and I'm calling CBN, crooks. You say that god wants us to prosper. Please stop speaking for god. The Christian god has unimaginable power, according to the Bible and could make your life prosperous with not more than a thought - could feed all of the needy (many of which are faithful Christians) in much the same way - could have stopped every rape or murder from happening without breaking a sweat. My point is that your god hasn't done those things and the reasons are un-knowable therefore; you nor CBN and not even the authors of the books of the Bible are qualified to tell me what god wants. What's clear to me is that god wants me to think for myself and make my own choices and I chose to believe that CBN are crooks (based on the evidence), tithing is stupid and judging others is simply how we decide whether they are trustworthy or not.

    1. ABSOLUTELY AGREE! Don't know what it will take for people to WAKE UP. My own family follows the 700 club and donates to them money they do not have but do waiting for that "silver lining" called heaven. I'm with you 100 % !!!

  4. CBN is more than crooks, they are manipulators who prey upon the goodness of the human spirit and at the same time, human greed(giving to get) to create a motivation for the naive individual to give their hard earned dollar to these leeches. I have met plenty of con artists and the Pat Robertson organization is the biggest charlatan conglomerate I have ever seen.

  5. I don't know where the lines are in regard giving money to "good" causes from God's point of view, I do however know what we've been instructed to do from the Bible. The Bible is clear that church fellowship and giving of any kind, in any from must be done in air of accountability by both giving and receiving parties. Without which, our human nature will deceive us into doing wrong.

  6. Parts of your comments almost made sense, however I believe you have deluded yourself. Of course they manipulate people, however who are you to say that churches lead to the degradation of neighborhoods. How can a church cause a neighborhood to turn bad? That is quite absurd and nonsensical.

We accept Christ because he is the only way to God the father, you telling people they do not have to be Christians, are spreading the lies of the devil and will lead many to hell.

I have seen healings and deliverances at the mention of the name of Jesus. You are spiritually blind and most certainly spiritually dead with these inane comments.

  7. I will pray for you all... God does according to His Will, not yours, not mine, and most bad things that happen in this world are a result of bad choices that we as Human's (Sinners) make. But God is faithful to all how have faith... FAITH... that is the foundation to who we are as Christians...

~I pray blessings come your way and that you all can meet God and see how wonderous and glorious is truly is... In His Name...

  8. It's plain and simple. A certain percentage of people are just not as intelligent as others and these are the people, unfortunately, that will be manipulated. So unless you come up with your own antithesis ideology you're wasting your time in trying to educate these people because they wont even listen to you.

  9. First and foremost, there has never been a single shred of evidence to support the existence of not only your god but any god of any kind.We are all born atheists until some crackpot told us a pack of biblical lies and said if we didn't obey we would be burned in Hell for eternity.I was just watching the 700 club and they were telling people to give more money than they had to give because god would reward them later. Really? God cares about you giving money to Pat Robertson to make him richer than he already is, but doesn't give a crap about 20 children being savagely murdered in their school? The stupidity of the people in this country is truly terrifying. Grow up and stop believing in fairy tales.

  10. I spent a lot of time and waited long to find a lawyer to handle my malpractice law suit. It was not until I became a Christian and gave a bunch of silver coins to the church that a lawyer called me that he would handle my case. I was awarded quite a sum of money.
It appears to me that you are a frustrated person that may not have gotten what you wanted. If CBN is crooked as you say, then it is God who will judge them, not you. My prayer for you is to humble yourself & ask Jesus to come into your heart for eternal life. Then it will be much easier for you to read and understand Gods word.

    1. I can't make heads or tails of what you're saying. Yes I'm frustrated - frustrated that people are being taken advantage of by these pigs. It's as simple as that. I don't want for anything and I am not suffering for lack of anything.

Here again is another example of a mindless person regurgitating the same rhetoric they were trained to utter rather than offering a genuine and well considered response.

You got a lawyer and some how that's a result of divine intervention by way of a payoff to god's middle men at the church. That's absurd! According to that logic the only reason god isn't helping poor and innocent people is that they can't afford his services.

BE GONE - THIS SORT OF IGNORANCE MAKES MY BRAIN ITCH.

      Go and pray or something.
